Asus launches ‘world’s first’ laptop with two screens at Computex 2019
As for AI assistance, Asus ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581) supports Alexa Voice support. Spec-wise, the device can be configured with either 9th-gen Intel Core i7 (9750H) or i9 (9980HK) processors (up to 5Ghz Turbo Boost) and 32GB DDR4 RAM. It also includes NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU and up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD for faster loading times and swift gaming. Although there’s no SD card slot, you do get a Thunderbolt 3- enabled USB Type-C (USB-C) port with 2xUSB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A ports standard HDMI, DC-in and Intel Wi-Fi 6 with Gig+ (802.11ax).
The laptop has a 15.6-inch 4K UHD OLED HDR supporting touch screen, using which you can drag the window to the 14-inch 4K (3840×1100 with 32:9 aspect ratio) second screen and vice-versa. The main display makes use of Asus’ NanoEdge design with slim bezels on all four sides. It also has a NumberPad dual-function touchpad. In addition, the device comes bundled with a stylus for performing various tasks such as drawing, writing and more. There is a palm rest that makes typing on the laptop easier.
Asus kicked off its conference with a bunch of products, of which the highlight was the dual screen laden (UX581). The laptop’s second screen, called as ScreenPad Plus, is nothing similar to what we saw with ZenBook Pro 15’s ‘Screenpad’ but a much bigger version extending from one edge to another and as big as the area occupied by the keyboard. The screen is placed above the keyboard area and acts as the extended display for the main one.
Asus has also included its ErgoLift tech in this one in addition to a dedicated Turbo Fan button. Backing the laptop is a 71Wh 4-cell Li-Po battery. There’s also a more affordable 14-inch model (UX481), which has an Intel Core i7 processor, FHD screen, 12.6-inch FHD ScreenPad Plus display, Nvidia GeForce MX250, up to 16GB LPDDR3 RAM and a 70Wh 4-cell battery. There’s no ThunderBolt 3 port though.
